- Hi all,
-
- Could somebody point me to a high-speed asynchronous short-haul leased line
- modem? I have the possibility to put in a two or four wire leased-line
- over a short distance ( 2 miles /3 km) to my ISP for a very low price. Seems
- like a waste of opportunity not to use modems that can transfer more than
- 33k6.
-
- I found a lot of synchronous modems which require either an expensive port
- in a computer or a router (cisco, livingstone etc.) that has such a port
- (V.35, X.21 or G703). That solution is a bit extravagant for my budget :-)
-
- So I am looking for either a pair of 115k2 asynchronous modems with RS232
- ports (do they exist?) or a pair of synchronous modems with some other way
- of connecting. At my end I have a Linuxbox, so an ISA card solution or
- centronics is possible (does that exist? are there drivers?) Problem is
- my ISP side of the connection. He had lots of RS232 ports to spare, but
- anything more falls out of the arrangment and will cost me. He is open to
- negotiation however.
-
- Thoughts, advice and solutions are very welcome, preferably via e-mail. If
- there is enough need I will ofcourse post a summary.
